I was trained in British Columbia, Canada as a Collaborative Lawyer where I served on the Victoria Separation Professionals Board as Chair of Training. In Massachusetts, I am very active in the Hampshire Hamden County Collaborative section. Since commencing my legal career as a Barrister and Solicitor in Canada 2000, I have utilized a collaborative model; drawing on appropriate resources to assist my clients not just with the immediate legal issue but to provide a framework for continued stability and success. I especially enjoy working with separating parents, complex financial and property transactions and the challenges of high conflict cases. Having worked for legal aid (in both Canada and, after 2002 in Massachusetts), for the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct, on a wide variety of legal cases in court and before administrative tribunals (e.g. employment, criminal, housing, disability, mental health, consumer legal issues), I am a well seasoned lawyer with the unique perspective of having skills and progressive experience from outside of Massachusetts (as well as more than 10 years experience as a lawyer in the Commonwealth). I am particularly interested in trans-jurisdictional issues such as when a family wishes to relocate to a new state or country.
I offer Collaborative Law assistance for separation, divorce, support, parenting time and other family law issues. I am also a trained and experienced mediator.
