What Research Tells Us about the Effect of Divorce on Children                                               

This live video presentation will inform us about the social science research that is being done throughout the world on divorce and the impact on children. Dr. Herrick’s presentation will include the effects of divorce on children in different age and developmental groups, from infants and toddlers to teens. Father involvement, overnights for children under 4, and the most important risk factors for all children of divorced parents will be covered.

Presenter:          Lisa Herrick, PhD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Collaborative Divorce Coach, Child Specialist, and custody mediator in  Falls Church, VA and Washington, DC. Lisa is co-author with Kate Scharff of Navigating Emotional Currents in Collaborative Divorce (ABA 2010) and Mastering Crucial Moments in Separation and Divorce (ABA 2016).   She is a founder of the Collaborative Practice Center of Greater Washington, where attorneys, financial experts, and mental health professionals work within the same suite on a shared mission of cooperative work. Lisa has helped over 200 families reach settlement using the Collaborative model.
